O ur auction Tableaux Dessins Sculptures 1300-1900 (“Paintings Drawings Sculptures 1300-1900”) features a nice selection of works of art, covering 600 years of art history from medieval times to the 19th century.
Notable highlights include rediscoveries by Sassoferrato and Antonio Maria Vassallo, but also paintings by Nicolas Tournier, Jean-Baptiste Monnoyer, Marten van Cleve, Jan Brueghel the Younger, Frans Francken, an emblematic Satan bronze by Jean-Jacques Feuchère and an enamelled earthenware Vase by Louis Ernest Carrier Belleuse.
The auction will also include Treasures of the Renaissance a selection of works from the collection of Arlette and Antony Embden, eminent antiques dealers who had a boutique on Quai Voltaire for more than 50 years. Combining bronzes, Limoges enamels, ivories, hardstones, marbles and ceramics, the Embden collection is a true cabinet of curiosities.
The Italian vedute by the likes of William James, 18th-century French paintings by Hubert Robert, Boilly, and a work by François Boucher, which will be the highlight; and important 19th-century French and European works by Zandomeneghi, Fernand Khnopff, Eugène Delacroix, Ferdinand Keller but also by the Finnish Albert Edelfelt, complete this sale.
