T ableaux Dessins Sculptures 1300-1900 features a wide variety of paintings and sculptures. It includes a number of previously unrecorded works and major discoveries, and culminates with a group of major paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries by Simon Vouet, Mattia Preti, Jusepe de Ribera, Philippe de Champaigne, Adrien Manglard or Hubert Robert.
Important works by Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, Franz-Xaver Winterhalter and Gustave Moreau are joined by paintings by Eugène Le Poittevin, Ramon Casas and Fernand Allard l’Olivier.
Amongst the highlights of European sculpture, we will be offering a magnificent medieval ivory diptych illustrating the Scenes from the Life of the Virgin, as well as an important mid-14th-century stone Virgin and Child with a Bird. A stunning Netherlandish baroque ivory tankard depicting a Bacchanale with mermaids stands out amongst the Kunstkammer objects.
The 19th century sculpture session culminates in an exceptional Vasque aux Titans in glazed terracotta, designed in 1878 by Carrier-Belleuse and his illustrious pupil Auguste Rodin, an important pair of marble medallions illustrating Day and Night by Constantin Dausch, exhibited in 1893 in Chicago, and a magnificent pair of marble and bronze busts of African sovereigns sculpted by Luigi Pagani in 1871.
