The Nivaagaards Malerisamling in Denmark has recently opened their latest exhibition dedicated to the Italian Renaissance female artist Sofonisba Anguissola (1532–1625). Sofonisba - History's Forgotten Miracle features no less than twenty works by the artist, including loaned works from museums in Italy, Spain, France, the UK, Poland, Germany and private collections.
The exhibition will run from 3rd September 2022 until 15th January 2023.
Fully recognised works by Sofonisba are incredibly rare. Sotheby's Paris sold the artist's Portrait of Emperor Maximillian II in 2016, a rare oil on ivory which remains one of the few works by the artist offered by Sotheby's in recent decades.
