Kusama, KAWS, Zao and Zhang Soar at Hong Kong Spring Sales

Sotheby’s Hong Kong Spring Sales soared to US$482 million, the second highest total in company history. Catch up on the highlights here, including a world auction record for wine, unrivalled works by Zao Wou-Ki, record-breaking works by Yayoi Kusama and KAWS, and a Zhang Daqian masterpiece that doubled its estimate. 20 auctions were held across six days, with 4,331 lots sold, 28 records set and a strong overall sell-through rate of 90%. Record numbers of visitors also enjoyed an array of events, including the unveiling of a new McLaren supercar, a live performance by conceptual artist Bernar Venet and ‘The Future of Luxury’ thought-leadership conference.
