Record-Setting Spring Sales Affirm Hong Kong’s Global Status

Outstanding results in traditional categories were joined by records for Western contemporary art and jewellery as Sotheby’s Hong Kong Spring Sales totalled HK$3.17 billion (US$406.1 million). Highlights included the record-smashing ‘CTF Pink Star’ diamond (US$71.2 million), an early Ming Xuande ‘Fish Pond’ Lobed Bowl (US$29.5 million), Andy Warhol’s ‘Mao' (US$12.6 million), a Fancy Intense Blue Diamond (US$4.8 million) and the Macallan Whisky Collection (US$990,000). Thirteen artists also set new records at auction, and eight of the week’s sales were ‘White Glove’ – or 100% sold. To consign with us for future auctions visit sothebys.com/consign.
