Sotheby’s is honored to present a significant number of works from the Collection of Joe R. & Teresa L. Long in our American, Impressionist, Modern and Contemporary Art sales this May. Over the last five decades, the Long family has acquired extraordinary works by artists including Marc Chagall, Fernand Léger and Emile Bernard in a superb collection that unites portraiture, landscape, and genre paintings from European, American and Latin American art. Recognized extensively for their longstanding leadership and generosity, Joe and Teresa Long have been pillars of their community in Austin, Texas. In addition to supporting the arts, Mr. and Mrs. Long have been fiercely dedicated to improving education and healthcare access across Texas and recently donated over $60 million to UT Health, allowing for more than 290 scholarships and empowered excellence in faculty recruitment.
