Why Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus Is Auctioning His $5M Banksy Vettriano Remix at Sotheby's

London | 4 March

B link-182’s Mark Hoppus is putting his rare, hand-painted Banksy artwork up for auction at Sotheby’s London, with an estimated value of £3-5 million.

Acquired in 2011, Banksy's Crude Oil (Vettriano) has been a centerpiece in the Hoppus family home for over a decade. Now, Mark is ready to let it go—using part of the proceeds to support emerging artists, charities like Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, and wildfire relief efforts in California. With his memoir Fahrenheit-182 on the way, this auction marks a reflective moment for the pop-punk legend.

Crude Oil (Vettriano) is one of many masterpieces in Sotheby's London's upcoming Modern & Contemporary Evening Sale, held live on 4 March at 7:00 PM GMT.
