otheby’s Fine Chinese Paintings Spring Sale is delighted to present around 240 exquisite works by modern Chinese artists. Headlining the sale are exceptional splashed-ink masterpieces by Zhang Daqian and a fresh-to-the-market Fu Baoshi landscape executed in the Jingangpo period. Other highlights include a distinguished selection of Lin Fengmian and Wu Guanzhong’s artworks with a vast range of genres and themes, epitomizing the artists’ achievements throughout their careers. The sale also features an array of four-panel calligraphy works by notable literati and government officials from the mid-Qing dynasty to the modern era, illustrating a multi-faceted tapestry of modern Chinese art. The sale also showcases works from distinguished collections, including the esteemed M K Lau Collection, the Tsao’s Family Collection, and the collections of three established figures of Hong Kong newspaper industry.
