On October 27, 1960, at the home of Yves Klein, Arman, Francois Dufrêne, Raymond Hains, Martial Raysse, Pierre Restany, Daniel Spoerri, Jean Tinguely and Jacques Villeglé signed nine copies of the Nouveaux Réalistes manifesto, attesting to having "realised their collective singularity." Despite the diversity of their artistic styles, the Nouveaux Réalistes had a similar "perceptive approach to the real”.
