Highlights
Print Perfection
Since the beginning of his career, Shields has been dedicated to creating technically masterful prints, including The Yellow Brick Road, an eye-popping dye-transfer print created in tandem with one of the last practitioners of the nearly obsolete process - an apt salute to the 3-strip Technicolor process used for making the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. Another work, Butterfly, a unique, oversized platinum-palladium print, was created especially for the Sotheby’s exhibition.
Reserved Exclusively for this Exhibition
This tightly curated exhibition showcases some of Shields’ most iconic images. Several oversized photographs, set aside for this exhibition, are the final prints available in this format, making this a rare opportunity to acquire Shields’ most well-loved images.
