S otheby's Paris is pleased to announce its upcoming day sale of Impressionist and Modern Art. This sale features a broad selection of paintings, works on paper, sculptures and ceramics. The sale offers a vast Impressionist and Post-Impressionist group of works by Eugène Boudin, Pierre-Auguste Renoir and Paul Signac, amongst many others. The Nabis are also represented with Maurice Denis and Edouard Vuillard. The session continues with an important collection of vibrant and whimsical clay crafted by Pablo Picasso in sunny Vallauris, in addition to a set of ceramic created by Jean Cocteau in the Atelier Madeline-Jolly in Villefranche-sur-Mer at the end of the 1950s. Further highlights of the sale feature Francis Picabia as well as the School of Paris, including creations by Marc Chagall, Amedeo Modigliani, Maurice Utrillo, Marie Laurencin or Maurice de Vlaminck. Finally, there is a very nice selection of works by Belgian artists, such as Leon Spilliaert, Leon and Gustave de Smet, Paul Delvaux and Rik Wouters.
