Since opening in 2008, the Sotheby's office in Doha marks a continued commitment to the region and to Doha as an emerging world-class centre of culture. The office is located within Commercial bank Plaza, the prominent West Bay district on the city's north shore.

In 2009 Sotheby's inaugural auction took place in Doha, marking this as the first international auction ever in Qatar. Momentum has built since then culminating in a highly successful sale in 2012, when 9 records were broken, including the record for the highest work ever sold for a living Arab artist.  The auction itself established the highest price for an auction of Contemporary Art in the Middle East region.

Achieving the strong total of $15,199,750, solidly between the pre-sale expectations of $11.1/16.1 million, the sale was 89.1% sold by lot. The top lot was Donald Judd’s Untitled (Bernstein 90-01), which sold after an extended bidding battle among four people for $3,525,000.

Sotheby’s Doha offers comprehensive services for clients worldwide. We are able to call upon the expertise of Sotheby's international specialists in all areas of fine and decorative art, jewellery, watches, books and other collectibles, and we can assist you in identifying and valuing your personal or corporate property. We can also advise on shipping, buying and selling with Sotheby's.

At present, we are actively seeking consignments in all collecting areas for inclusion in upcoming sales.
