Biography
Tim Murphy joined Sotheby’s in 2007 after working as a consultant in Russia for five years.
He has more than twenty years cross-cultural experience and that has enabled him to oversee and implement Sotheby’s expansion programmes in the Middle East, India, Turkey and Russia.
Whilst setting up infrastructure in those locations he has also played an integral part in all Sotheby’s activations that have taken place over the years including major events, exhibitions and both commercial and charity auctions.
In the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia these included Sotheby’s first exhibition of Middle East Contemporary Art in Jeddah in 2013, The Digital Art Forum 2022, The Riyadh International Book Fair 2022 and in 2017 the first ever charity auction conducted by Sotheby's in the presence of HRH Prince Khaled bin Faisal Al Saud in the palace of his late father His Majesty King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
As General Manager MENA he has a unique understanding of strategic, operational, financial and commercial activity and has vast knowledge of the region having worked consistently across the Middle East for over 15 years.
