The Art of Chocolate: Sotheby’s x Vosges

Roses freshly picked from Monet’s garden. Coconut-shell ash as rich and tactile as a Miró sculpture. Edible gold that calls to mind Rudolf Stingel’s metallic canvases. Now’s your chance to truly taste the art. Inspired by art in our upcoming Impressionist & Modern and Contemporary sales, Vosges Haut-Chocolat created eight limited-edition truffles. “Whether it be the hue, the shape of the strokes or the visceral effect of the works, these attributes activated the creation of the recipe,” says Vosges founder Katrina Markoff, who uses chocolate as a medium for storytelling. The truffles will be available in boxes of four or sixteen at a pop-up boutique on the third floor of our New York headquarters, via Vosges’ website and their SoHo shop. Click ahead to savour Markoff’s edible creations and learn the inspiration behind their complex flavours. –Stephanie Sporn
