One of the thematic strengths of the forthcoming Life of Discovery: Works from the Allan Stone Collection | Contemporary Art Online auction is in abstraction. Allan Stone was an early devotee of Abstract Expressionism, supporting some of the titans of that movement including Willem de Kooning and Franz Kline, and was committed to subsequent developments by generations of artists that gravitated toward hard edge abstraction and Pop art. Select works will be on view at Sotheby’s while the larger preview of the sale will be presented at Allan Stone Projects in New York from 27 November through 10 December.
