S otheby's Modern & Contemporary Art Sale presents important paintings, sculpture and works on paper from the most renowned artists of the 20th and 21st century.

Included in the sale is variety works by Arnulf Rainer, Günther Förg, Alexej von Jawlensky, Max Ackermann and Fritz Winter as well as Emil Schumacher, Walter Stöhrer and Gottfried Honegger.

The highlight of our works on paper selection is a beautiful sheet by Erich Heckel an exceptional example of his expressionistic watercolours depicting Sidi Riha and rare example of Oskar Kokoschka’s early work in the style of the renowned Viennese art nouveau.

Represented in the sale furthermore are German Expressionists such Emil Nolde, Christian Rohlfs and Max Pechstein spanning through modernists like Rudolph Jahns, Adolf Fleischmann and Walter Dexel and contemporaries such as Gotthard Graubner, James Rosenquist, Andy Denzler completed by an outstanding work on paper by American artists Sam Francis.

We are delighted to offer a beautiful monochrome relief work by Dutch artist Ad Dekkers and fine example of Op-Art by Belgium artists Walter Leblanc as well as works by representatives of the COBRA movement such as Asger Jorn and Karel Appel.

The sale also includes exciting discoveries such as works by the stand-out Czech artist Jan Kaláb who strikes with his pop-coloured organic formed multi-part paintings or stunning monumental Stalagmite sculpture by American artists Sterling Ruby.
