Sotheby's Important Design sale features works by Jean Dunand, Georges Jouve, Jean-Michel Frank, Pierre Jeanneret, Alberto Giacometti, Claude & François-Xavier Lalanne, Paul Dupré-Lafon, Marc Newson, Eugène Printz, Ron Arad, Eileen Gray and Pierre Paulin.
A section of the sale will be dedicated to artist furniture and will include pieces by Wifredo Lam, Wade Guyton, Sonia Delaunay, Maxime Descombin and Takis.
The sale will also include a unique piece by François-Xavier Lalanne: a family of hippopotamuses including a bathtub, a bidet and a toilet, estimated €2,000,000–2,500,000. Commissioned by the present owner in the 1990s, this exceptional work is one of the most important lots in the sale.
