Survival on the Sea: The Story of the ‘Bee’

Online | 02 - 12 DECEMBER

Sotheby’s is selling a boat. The ‘Bee’ is one of the last ‘Stroma Yoles’ – a style of boat descended from the days when Vikings ruled the North of Scotland. In this episode of Sotheby’s Stories, discover the tumultuous history of the ‘Bee’ and how a feisty bull led her to lay abandoned on a beach for nearly 30 years before being lovingly restored and given a new purpose. Currently used by a charity to teach traditional sailing skills to young people, the ‘Bee’ will feature in our ‘The Art of Travel’ online auction (2 – 12 December), with sale proceeds benefitting the charity.
