Discover the Innate Africanness of El Anatsui’s Glimmering Bottle Cap Tapestry

London | October 2018

This shimmering metallic woven cloth, imbued with innate Africanness, is the work of one of the most influential contemporary artists of today. A hanging sculpture made of aluminium bottle-caps, the title “TAGOMIZER” is a misspelling of ‘thagomizer’, the set of long narrow spikes on the tail of a Stegosaurus that are reminiscent of artist El Anatsui’s sharp strips of aluminium. “TAGOMIZER” is a highlight of our upcoming sale Modern & Contemporary African Art (16 October | London).
