A silver-gilt tankard, unidentified maker's mark, Bützow (North-Eastern Germany), circa 1600
tapering shape, gadrooned foot rim, the body embossed with three oval medallions representing an ostrich, a horse and a doe in wooded landscapes, the finial shaped as a lion holding a shield, the thumbpiece applied on one side with the Virgin and Child and engraved on the reverse of the Virgin and Child accompanied by a girl (or Saint Jean ?), engraved under the base with coat-of-arms and HIF MMF

Chope en vermeil, poiçon d'orfèvre onomastique, Bützow (Nord-Est de l'Allemagne), vers 1600
de forme tronconique, le pied à bord godronné, le corps repoussé de trois médaillons ovales répresentant une autruche, un cheval et une biche dans des paysages arborés, la prise en lion tenant un écusson, l'appui-pouce appliqué sur une face de la Vierge à l'Enfant et gravé au revers de la Vierge à l'Enfant accompagné d'une fillette (ou Saint Jean ?), gravée sous la base d'armoiries d'alliance et des chiffres HIF MMF
