rectangular with cut corners, the lid painted en plein with cowherds before a river landscape beneath an opalescent pink sky, a fortress in the background, in the style of Jean-Louis Richter, within a split-pearl frame, the sides and base enamelled in translucent blue on an elaborately engine-turned ground with pellets forming quatrefoils within lozenges, taille d'épargne borders, the angles decorated with herons holding a wreath, maker's mark crowned L?G incuse, post-1918 French control marks for 18ct gold,
