Description

oval with scalloped outline, the lid painted with harbour scene including a cargo boat and another sail boat in the distance, framed by pine trees and classical architecture below hazy snow-covered mountains against an opalescent pink enamel sky over sunburst engine-turning, within brightly-enamelled sprays of roses and pansies on an opaque mint green enamel ground, the fluted sides decorated with similarly painted harbour scenes alternating with colourful flower sprays, the later base with a plain green cartouche and borders by a different hand, apparently unmarked


length 8.5 cm; 3 3/8 in.
