Description

all of tapering form, the first, by Nicolas Durier, Paris, 1762-1768, elegantly striped in translucent red and dark-blue, with chased and enamelled bead and garland borders on a sablé ground, the matrix engraved with accolé arms, maker's mark ND with a heart différent, dog's head discharge mark for Jean-Jacques Prévost (1762-1768), French hibou control mark,

height 11.5 cm.; 4 1/2 in.

the second, with translucent blue enamel reserves with paillon pellets and chased two-colour gold floral borders, plain matrix, discharge mark of Julien Alaterre (1768-1774),

height 11.7 cm.; 4 1/2 in.

the third, with a dark blue enamel ground inlaid with paillon stars, dots and orbs, the gold mounts chased with stars and ribbons, the matrix engraved with initials VM, post-1838 French eagle's head control mark for 18 ct gold, height 12.5 cm; 4 7/8 in.
