A triumph of early modernism, The Impressionist Spirit: an Important Private Collection, champions some of the finest examples of paintings during the impressionist era. Highlighted by Claude Monet’s Au Cap Martin, this private collection also features works from coveted artists such as Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Édouard Manet, and André Derain. As art historian Joachim Pissarro says, “This particular collector has strength to go for more difficult paintings, more interesting paintings, paintings that have a message, have something to say”.
Works from the Impressionist Spirit: an Important Private Collection will be offered in Sotheby’s Modern Evening and Day auctions on 16 and 17 May respectively at Sotheby’s New York as a part of the New York Sales presented in partnership with CELINE.
