‘Picasso-Birth of a Genius’ Opens in Beijing

The most extensive exhibition of Pablo Picasso held in China opened on June 15 at the Ullens Center of Contemporary Art in Beijing. Sotheby’s is a proud supporting partner of “Picasso – Birth of a Genius,” a rare exhibition devoted to the first three decades of the master’s career with more than 100 works on loan from the Musée national Picasso-Paris collection, including paintings, sculptures, and works on paper.

    The exhibition brings together the best of the Picasso Museum, Laurent Le Bon, president of the Paris museum told AFP in a news report by The South China Morning Post. “We have tried to show the great masterpieces like the blue Self Portrait, for example, that hardly ever leave the museum, and display them alongside a more multidisciplinary Picasso,” Le Bon said, according to the report.
