This selling exhibition comprises of Lalan’s three major creative periods. During her first period she created series of emotive paintings defined by rhythmic, calligraphic abstraction where she frequently used thick black stripes while combining her strong background in music and dance. During the second period her works transitioned to landscapes her works in the 1970’s and early 80’s is notably gentler in colour, quality of line and composition. In the peak of her career she returned to rhythmic abstract works which intertwined with dancing movements and are full of musical pleasures. Her works became lighter, fuller in composition and more complex, giving a greater variety of textures and sense of depth and volume.
