Sotheby’s Latin America: Modern Art Evening Sale on 25 May will feature masterworks of Mexican modernism. Led by Diego Rivera’s seminal 1951 portrait, Retrato de la Actriz Matilde Palou as well as Rufino Tamayo’s influential The Bird Charmer of 1945, the sale will also include outstanding works by leading Surrealist women artists, including Remedios Varo’s mystical Troubadour and a whimsical untitled masterpiece by Leonora Carrington.
