  In its early days, the 5020 acquired the nickname "television set" as a result of its unusual shape. Collectors were not enthralled with its overall design and rather large and chunky case. Thus 5020 had a relatively short and unsuccessful run that came to a close in 2002. To the best of our knowledge, fewer than 20 pieces were cased in platinum. However those very elements which were initially derided by the collector world came to be loved and contributed to the 5020 becoming an icon in its own right

  Rolex, Cosmograph Daytona Reference 6239
  A Stainless Steel Chronograph Wristwatch with Bracelet, circa 1964
  Estimate $25,000-45,000

  The first Cosmograph Daytona, Reference 6239, launched in 1963 and was produced until about 1969. The dials do not contain the “oyster” description. Very early models from 1965 and prior do not feature the Daytona signature either. The present lot features an extremely well preserved simple dial, with only two lines for “Rolex Cosmograph.” This beautifully warm and honest dial contributes to the collectability.
