A Belle Epoque showcase for fine art
Inaugurated in 1900 for the Exposition Universelle in Paris, the Grand Palais was designed to host the French capital’s biggest and most prestigious cultural events. High-profile exhibitions, concerts, fashion shows and trade fairs have all taken place under its immense glass barrel-vaulted roof. The beaux-arts landmark closed for a major renovation in 2021 and its cavernous central nave reopened in summer 2024 as the venue for fencing and taekwondo at the Paris Olympics. Following a full reopening in June 2025, the building will return to hosting major cultural and sporting events including a five-year program of exhibitions organized by the Centre Pompidou during its own renovation. The Grand Palais is the flagship venue of the French cultural body Réunion des Musées Nationaux – Grand Palais (Rmn-GP), which also manages the Musée du Luxembourg in Paris. Preferred members enjoy complimentary front-of-queue access to all Rmn-GP–organized exhibitions, the full list of which is available on the institution’s website. Please note this access does not include external events held at the Grand Palais.
