Doug Fogelson (American, b. 1970) Fogelson works with color transparencies in the darkroom, experimenting and layering forms to eschew the more representational aspects of photography and instead play with the medium’s fundamental principle of materials that capture and blend light. At the root of Fogelson’s many projects is an interest in the concept of time and the inevitability of change. Doug Fogelson studied at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Columbia College Chicago. His work has been exhibited at the J. Paul Getty Center, Los Angeles; the Center for Creative Photography, Tucson, AZ; Staatliche Museum für Fotografie (Berlin); and the Museum of Contemporary Photography. He has been recognized by The Brooklyn Rail, Photo District News, and AfterImage among others.
