A Lyon counterfeit edition.
8vo (165 x 100 mm). Italic type, 30 lines plus headline. collation: a-z8 &8: 192 leaves. Title-page printed in red with fleur-de- lis device, early manuscript annotation. (Browning, dampstaining, and foxing.)
binding: Contemporary Italian brown sheep tooled in a low-grade gold (170 x 105 mm), open frame formed by triple blind fillets, mitered, inner frame formed by gilt floral roll, bisected horizontally by same roll to form two square compartments outlined by three blind fillets, gilt fleuron at corners, lozenge formed of three blind fillets within each square, gilt star at corners, gilt floral ornament composed of four fleuron inside lozenge, traces of two pairs of green silk ties, spine with raised bands in four compartments, each with saltires in blind, edges gilt and gauffered. (Worn, head and tail of spine with loss, lower edge of upper cover wormed with loss, alignment of blind and gilt fillets occasionally askew.)
