The Egyptologist Christiane Desroche Noblecourt (1913-2011) joined the staff of the Egyptian Antiquities department at the Louvre in 1944, and was Keeper from 1974 to 1981. She was the first woman to become a fellow of the French Institute of Oriental Archaeology. During WW II she joined the French Resistance, and was instrumental in hiding the treasures of the Louvre in unoccupied areas of France. Later she was a major figure in saving Nubian temples from flooding caused by the new Aswan High Dam. Madame Desroches Noblecourt is the subject of a new biography by Lyn Olson, Empress of the Nile, Random House, 2023.
It has been suggested that the upper part of the statue of Sat-Hathor is in the Eski Sark Eserleri museum in Istanbul, inv. 1036.
