The Dawn of Genius: Gian Lorenzo Bernini

In this episode of Expert Voices, Margaret Schwartz discusses the genius of Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Born in Naples in 1598, Bernini lived to be the most important sculptor after Michelangelo. Autumn, a masterpiece by both Bernini and his father, Pietro, is an exemplar of his work. Carved in 1616, Autumn’s dynamism and expressiveness display the virtuoso skill of a mater who will soon be the greatest sculptor in all of Italy – and Europe. Autumn is a highlight of Fearless: The Collection of Hester Diamond.
