Last year, Marc Jacobs moved. After living and collecting in an impeccably designed townhouse on Greenwich Village’s Bethune street for more than a decade, the fashion icon found a new canvas in the Frank Lloyd-designed Max Hoffman House of Rye, New York. As he prepared to relocate, the legendary designer joined Sotheby’s Chairman Amy Cappellazzo to explore his eclectic collection and to discuss his unique approach to curation. Jacobs has spent the past two decades building an extensive collection that includes contemporary art, 20th century design and jewles. "I thought about my role as an art collector," Jacobs shares. "I love what Steve Martin says, that these things are not mine – I am a custodian for them."
