S otheby's is honored to host this benefit auction on behalf of the Art Institute of Chicago's Society for Contemporary Art.
This SCA Collectors Sale features more than 50 artworks generously donated by artists, premier international galleries, and notable collectors. All proceeds support the Society for Contemporary Art, its educational programs, special initiatives, and acquisitions for the Art Institute of Chicago.
Founded at the museum in 1940, the SCA promotes a better understanding and appreciation of the art of our time and has become one of the museum’s principal vehicles for exploring new and challenging art. SCA programs provide access to an exciting roster of leading national and international artists, dealers, critics, historians, and curators. Since its inception, the SCA has had a formative impact on the museum’s collection of modern and contemporary art. Each year, the SCA purchases art for the museum’s permanent collection.
The Society for Contemporary Art is a 501(c)(3) organization.
Please note that while this auction is hosted on Sothebys.com, it is being administered by the Art Institute of Chicago’s Society for Contemporary Art (the “SCA”), and all post-sale matters (inclusive of invoicing and property pickup/shipment) will be handled by the SCA. As such, Sotheby’s will share the contact details for the winning bidders with the SCA so that they may be in touch directly post-sale.
