Kay Rosen’s investigations into the visual possibilities of language have been her primary focus since the late 1960’s. Through paintings, drawings, murals, prints, collages, and videos, Rosen has sought to generate new meaning from everyday words and phrases by producing interventions through the manipulation of scale, color, material, composition, graphic design, and typography.

Recent solo exhibitions of Rosen’s work include those at Alexander Gray Associates, New York City; Helga Maria Klosterfelde Edition, Berlin; and Galerie Zilberman, Istanbul. Her work has been included in exhibitions at Gracie Mansion Conservancy, New York; the Jewish Museum, New York; and the Art Institute of Chicago.

Please note that while this auction is hosted on Sothebys.com, it is being administered by the Art Institute of Chicago’s Society for Contemporary Art (the “SCA”), and all post-sale matters (inclusive of invoicing and property pickup/shipment) will be handled by the SCA. As such, Sotheby’s will share the contact details for the winning bidders with the SCA so that they may be in touch directly post-sale.
