Assaf Evron is a former photojournalist engaged in acts of what he considers “photographic logic”—the camera’s ability to simultaneously document the resolutely volumetric world in all its plentitude and flatten it into an image. His subjects, often vast in their scale, range from skyscrapers to underground quarries. Through acts of translation between three and two dimensions, Evron explores how built and natural environments reflect and influence political, cultural, economic, and religious systems.

Recent solo exhibitions of Evron’s work include those at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago; Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, Herzliya; and Andrea Meislin Gallery, New York. His work has been included in exhibitions at Crystal Bridges Museum for American Art, Bentonville; Tel-Aviv University Gallery, Tel-Aviv; and the Suburban, Milwaukee.

Please note that while this auction is hosted on Sothebys.com, it is being administered by the Art Institute of Chicago’s Society for Contemporary Art (the “SCA”), and all post-sale matters (inclusive of invoicing and property pickup/shipment) will be handled by the SCA.
