Journey through France: A Private Collection of Post-Impressionist Paintings 23 April–1 May 2020 • 10:00 AM EDT • New York

Sotheby’s is privileged to present Journey through France: A Private Collection of Post-Impressionist Paintings. Assembled by an East Coast couple with an eye for narrative, this collection features 13 works by modern masters such as Francis Picabia, Albert Marquet and Maximilien Luce. Following the trail blazed by their Impressionist forebears, these artists take us on a journey from the rolling hills of Brittany to the forests of the Midi, from medieval towns to quiet riverbanks. Their idyllic views of the country beyond the confines of Paris capture the appetite for serenity in an era of rapid technological and social change. Bidding will be open from 23 April - 1 May.
