PIERRE EUGÈNE MONTÉZIN

(1874 - 1946)

ANIMAUX À L'OMBRE DU VIEUX SAULE

Signed Montézin (lower right); titled (on the reverse)

Oil on paper mounted on canvas

19¾ by 25⅝ in. (50.2 by 65.1 cm)

Framed: 27¾ by 33½ in. (70.5 by 85.1 cm)

This work will be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonné being prepared by Monsieur Cyril Klein Montézin.

The canvas is unlined. Artist's pinhole to all four corners. All four edges of the canvas have been previously taped, with a number of losses to the extreme edges of the sheet where the tape has since been removed. These include a 4 inch vertical loss to the top half of the left edge, scattered minor losses to all four edges and areas of significant wear and fading to the pigment where the tape has been removed. A repaired tear extends across the upper right corner, measuring approximately 1.5 inches in length. Please note these are not visible when the work is framed. A single pindot loss to the sheet in the blue pigments toward the lower right corner. Under UV light: no inpainting is apparent. The work is in overall good condition.
