Description

Property of Strider Shurtliff

Lawrence “Ram Rod” Shurtliff

Yamaha P-T4 Chromatic Octave Tuning Scope, used by Ram Rod with the Grateful Dead, ca. early 1970s

Piano tuner (11 x 6 x 9”) in original brown leather case, with blue leather buckled bag.

“Big” Steve Parish: “In the late 1960’s when the band would tune up, it was ‘give me an A to tune to.’ This tuner, belonging to Ram Rod, was a state of the art piano tuner that we tried to use to check tuning. It was in use for a short time as new guitar tuners were being developed in the 70’s.”
