The present panel, depicting an allegory of spring, is from a series of tapestries, entitled The Seasons, based on designs by Charles Le Brun. Each design originally included classical deities associated with the relevant season, holding a wreath and engaging in activities typical of that time of year. In each weaving, the gods and goddesses are shown against a background of a royal gardens and architecture.

This specific weaving was woven during Jean Lebvre's or his sons' tenure as directors of the Gobelins Workshop.
