The Tank Louis is one of the most important watch designs in the world. Named after the third generation family member of the Cartier family, Louis Cartier was instrumental in expanding Cartier’s design aesthetic to encompass Eastern inspirations, and is responsible for many of the characteristics which are still visible today. The Tank design worn by Louis Cartier himself ended up being named after him, and today stands as an icon of the industry.
The present Tank Louis was made to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the global retailer and industry giant Watches of Switzerland. Each region received a special edition Tank, and a striking yellow gold with black lacquer dial version was given to Australia. Made in an extremely limited run of 25 watches, this lot gives collectors the chance to own a legendary wristwatch in a very unique execution.
