The lid painted en plein with one of the battles of the Russo-Turkish War between 1787 and 1792, framed by opaque black enamel borders decorated with floral paillons and outer white enamel borders, the sides and base with matching borders around a translucent anthracite enamel on a ground of bow-patterned engine-turned bands, maker's mark GW incuse within double wheel marks, the right rim numbered: 1545
