Description

rectangular with cut corners, the lid painted en plein with two fishermen by a lake, divided by a rather dramatic translucent dark blue enamel anchor, the background with a mountainscape under clear blue skies, the gold ground engraved with sunbursts to top and chevron engine-turned to bottom, framed by opaque pale blue and white enamel bands, the sides decorated to match, the base with bands of opaque blue pointed ovals and zig-zag engine-turning, maker's mark within two further marks, sunray between three sprigs, the right rim numbered: 4739, later French import mark


length 7.3 cm; 2 7/8 in.
