Description

Echézeaux 2011

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti

Côte de Nuits, Grand Cru

Case banded; Caisse cerclée

22 hl/ha. Average age of vines: 35 years. Total production: 1030 cases. In 2014, a lovely "wet earth" Burgundian nose, redolent of the soil of Vosne. Really gingery and spicy on the palate, yet soft and seductive. Finishes on a fresh, sprightly note. Serena Sutcliffe, MW

An outstanding collection of wines from Domaine de La Romanée-Conti featuring banded OWCs, bottles, magnums, Jeroboams, and agonisingly rare Methuselahs spanning 1990 through to 2011. All the wines were acquired on release directly from the Domaine and were cellared in professional temperature-controlled storage until removed for this auction. The consignor generously granted Sotheby’s privileged access to all his cellar records, allowing our specialists to reconcile the entire collection against original invoices, cementing a transparent and traceable line of provenance. The flawless condition of these bottles is a supreme testament to the consignor’s careful stewardship, maturing these legendary wines to complete perfection.
