of squat bulbous form with long neck, painted in underglaze cobalt blue, turquoise, manganese, pink and outlined in black, decorated with three large floral arrangements including a composite flower, prunus blossoms, carnations, saz leaves, the base impressed stencilled 'TH DECK' mark in blue

Theodore Deck (1823-91) started to explore the Iznik style in his ceramic practice by 1856 having studied works of this type in the Musee de Cluny in Paris. His amazement in the expansive combinations of floral patterns in Iznik designs are evident in his work.
