Old Master and British Works on Paper 19–26 January 2022 • 2:00 PM EST • New York

T his January we are delighted to present our Old Master & British Works on Paper sale in conjunction with our Master Works from Five Centuries sale.

With 128 lots there is something for everyone in this diverse and exciting group ranging from early German drawings from the 16th century to French drawings from the 19th Century. A large proportion of the lots come from the celebrated collection of the esteemed art historian and publisher, Walter L. Strauss, a Nuremburg-born immigrant to the United States, whose most important publication was a definitive, six-volume catalogue of the drawings of his fellow Nuremberger, Albrecht Dürer.

We also have drawings from the collection of Nelson Shanks (1937 - 2015), an American realist painter and portraitist to international leaders and celebrities; Paintings, Works of Art and Furniture will be offered in the dedicated auction of the Nelson Shanks Collection during Masters week in January.
