George Harrison

Autograph manuscript lyrics to the song 'All of Me', [early 1960s]

written in prose over 14 lines, followed by the note "Solo. from Take my lips", 1 page, ruled paper, 135 x 107mm, [early 1960s], fold tears, adhesive staining at edges

EARLY LYRICS TRANSCRIBED BY GEORGE HARRISON. 'All of Me' by Gerald Marks and Seymour Simons has been a jazz standard since 1931. There were memorable recordings by Louis Armstrong, Billie Holliday, and Frank Sinatra, but Harrison would also have been aware of more recent recordings which show the influence of rock and roll. It is not a song that the Beatles are known to have performed but the note on the placement of a guitar solo suggests that Harrison probably wrote it out in preparation for live performance.
