The New Standard, Presentation of Standards 1927

signed AJ Munnings lower right

oil on canvas

Unframed: 56 by 72cm., 22 by 28in.

Framed: 73 by 88cm., 29 by 34½in.

This picture is lined and the lining canvas is providing a stable structural support. The paint surface would benefit from a light clean and re-varnish as there are brush-hairs caught within the existing varnish and the surface is a little dirty. UNDER ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT There are retouchings to the extremities where the paint surface has been rubbed by the rebate of the frame. There is a small area of retouching close to the right edge and other flecked retouchings closer to the right edge. There are a couple of very minor retouchings to the right of the flag-pole. There are possibly a few minor retouchings in the sky but these may be the artist's original pigments that fluoresce darker.
