Biography
Joëlle Koops joined Sotheby’s in 2014, where she was part of the Contemporary Art Department in Paris for nearly a decade appointed Deputy Director, Specialist.
Ms Koops has been deeply involved in many Modernités, Evening and single-owner collection sales at Sotheby’s Paris and headed several of the annual multi-department online NOW ! auctions. Ms Koops has secured consignments throughout Europe, with a focus on France and Dutch-speaking countries as well as advising Continental collectors on selling and buying.
Currently located in the region of Montpellier, Mrs Koops has been appointed as our regional consultant since July 2024, covering the Languedoc Roussillon, Arles, Avignon and Aix-en-Provence.
Before joining Sotheby’s, Mrs Koops worked for a notable art dealer in Paris. She of Dutch descent and received her bachelor degree in Museum and Heritage Studies from the Reinwardt Academy in Amsterdam.
